when I look at research, the first thing I have to think is: is it reproducible? Yes.
Next we have to look at the sample size (is it a large enough sample to be able to draw general conclusions?) No.
Lastly, is the research published in a reputable journal? lamplighter seems reputable.
I conclude that although the sample size is small (n=1), the results are reproducible and the journal is reputable, I will have to say this is legitimate research.
