road test----watch out!

This weekend Nicholas will be taking his road test for his driver's license. I pray he passes for a couple of reasons, 1. I don't want to schedule another one, 2. I don't want to have to pay for each one ($45) and 3. I don't need more gray hair! I cannot believe that next Friday he will be 16 years old. amazing. He is having a sixteenth birthday party with all his friends and family next Saturday. His actual birthday is homecoming and I hope they win!!! God Bless you Nicholas!

LOST???

I watch the tv show lost on Wednesday nights. And I love it! The suspense and the drama and the mystery. watched it since last season. And I know of a couple of other people who if they did not watch it last time are "highly addicted" to it this time. Why are we so able and willing to set out time each week for a tv show about lost people and we are not willing to go out and spend an hour of our time witnessing to those that are really lost! hmmm not sure if it is our comfort zone, our sphere of people around us (they all already go to church), or laziness! I don't care what church they go to as long as they have accepted Jesus as their personal Savior! I want them to have the same peace that I have, even when there is pressing times in my life. Well I must be off to go and help save some lost.

IF NOTHING EVER CHANGED, THERE WOULD BE NO BUTTERFLIES!

Tuesday, September 20, 2005

In your times of deep despair,Do you feel there is no hope?
As the darkness closes in on you,Do you feel you cannot cope?
As you struggle on through every trial,Do you say "When will it end"?
As you cry yourself to sleep at night,Do you wish you had a friend?
When your body's racked with aches and pains,Do you feel you are alone?
When you think about the future,Do you fear the great unknown?
There is someone who really cares,And He hears your every cry.
His arms are reaching out to you,And on Him you can rely.
When things close in around you,He sees your fear and doubt -
He wants to hold you in His arms,And He will never cast you out.
As you stumble through the darkness,He will be your guiding light.
He wants to wipe away your tears,For you are precious in His sight.
Reach out right now to Jesus,And let Him take complete control -
He'll take that heavy burden,And He'll touch and make you whole.
He's reaching out His arms to you,And He wants to be your friend.
Let Him take you in His loving arms,For His love will never end.

How can I still be at peace?

Today I received news that could have taken the wind out of my sails, but it didn't. I think the enemy is gearing up for another attack on our home front. Lots of news that haven't been so positive have reached our home lately and yet we have not let it take away our joy or our focus. It is amazing when I think about it, but then I think that I should not be amazed. God is awesome and he takes care of all our needs. That is what he is doing now. He has given us peace, joy, ability of discernment, and words to encounter the situations we need to! If it weren't for him we would be a mess.

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave.
Psalm 16:7-10

you know you are a mom when.....

1. Your feet stick to the kitchen floor.....and you don't care.
2. When the kids are fighting, you threaten to lock them in a room together and not let them out until someone's bleeding.
3. You can't find your cordless phone, so you ask a friend to call you,and you run around the house madly, following the sound until you locate the phone downstairs in the laundry basket.
4. You spend an entire week wearing sweats.
5. Your idea of a good day is making it through without a child leaking bodily fluids on you.
6. Popsicle’s become a food staple.
7. Your favorite television show is a cartoon.
8. Peanut butter and jelly is eaten at least in one meal a day.
9. You're willing to kiss your child's boo-boo, regardless of where it is.
10. Your baby's pacifier falls on the floor and you give it back to her, after you suck the dirt off of it because your too busy to wash it off.
11. Your kids make jokes about farting, burping, pooping, ect. and you think it's funny.
12. You're so desperate for adult conversation that you spill your guts to the telemarketer that calls and HE hangs up on YOU!
13. Spit is your number one cleaning agent.
14. You're up each night until 10 PM vacuuming, dusting, wiping, washing, drying, loading, unloading, shopping, cooking, driving, flushing, ironing, sweeping, picking up, changing sheets, changing diapers, bathing, helping with homework, paying bills, budgeting, clipping coupons, folding clothes, putting to bed, dragging out of bed, brushing, chasing, buckling, feeding (them, not you), PLUS swinging, playing baseball, bike riding, pushing trucks, cuddling dolls, roller blading, basketball, football, catch, bubbles, sprinklers, slides, nature walks, coloring, crafts, jumping rope, PLUS raking, trimming, planting, edging, mowing, gardening, painting, and walking the dog. You get up at 5:30 AM and you have no time to eat, sleep, drink or go to the bathroom, and yet...you still managed to gain 10 pounds.
15. In your bathroom there is toothpaste on the light fixtures, water all over the floor, a dog drinking out of the toilet and body hair forming a union to protest unsafe working conditions.
16. You buy cereal with marshmallows in it.
17. The closest you get to gourmet cooking is making rice crispies bars.

3. Laundry. Dishes............ Let's just say house work and still we are not done.
4. Homework.
5. Got groceries and I spent 30 minutes in line just to check out.
6. Partylite meeting. (did dinner with that as a bonus)
7. Took my dad to the airport.
8. Got Gas! found it in Saline yesterday for $2.77 but then today in Adrian I got it for $2.70. $30 bucks at each stop and still not full.
9. Took back auto parts to auto zone.
10. went to Schneider's junk yard and got a hood latch for nicholas' car. (anyone ever go there it was kind of different I have never been to a junk yard before.)

It is hot today and not sure if this is a start to an Indian Summer or not. But I love fall. I love the colors, cider, halloween, the crunching sound of leaves, and tired sore arms from all the raking. HEE HEE! I am anxious for fall. Football, harvest time, cooler evenings, pumpkins, and bon fires. Both my kids have their bdays in the fall and we love the time of the year. I am looking forward to homecoming too. Well as my temp today say 91 F, I will have to wait till tonite for cooler weather.
oh and prayer request. my dad is going back to europe for about 6 weeks, so pray for safe journey and everything is well. thanks

what a deal!

the boys' new phones
my new phone
I am all about getting a deal! We were getting Nicholas a cell phone for his 16th birthday, and since I got a coupon for him in the mail that ended soon, we went ahead and got it now. I did as much research as possible about phones and the plans to go with them so we would not get talked into anything when we went to the store. I ended up upgrading my phone to this sweet little number. a slider.

They bought my old phone back from me, plus I got $150 rebate, so it only cost me $20. It is a camera phone like my other one but it zooms. So cool. also I did not want the flip phone anymore, personal preference and I just did not like it.
Then Vincent ended upgrading his to a new flip phone and we got Nicholas the same one. Kind of like a buy one get one free and those were cheap too cause we got rebates. Then I had a coupon for waiving activation fee for Nicholas' line, coupon for free 100 text messages each month for 2 years, 5% discount on bill for renewing contract, and the new plan is more minutes and is gonna be cheaper than our old plan cause Vincent works at Ford. Discount on our bill again of 23 % (not sure why it is that odd amount-but who cares) each MONTH just for being a Ford employee! That rocks! I did not know that so anyone else out there might want to look into employee discounts.
I love sprint!

A child's ten comandments

1. My hands are small. Please don't expect perfection whenever I make a bed, draw a picture or throw a ball. My legs are short. Please slow down so that I can keep up with you.

2. My eyes have not seen the world as yours have. Please let me explore safely. Don't restrict me unnecessarily.

3. Housework will always be there. I'm only little for such a short time. Please take time to explain things to me about this wonderful world, and do so willingly.

4. My feelings are tender. Please be sensitive to my needs. Don't nag me all day long. (You wouldn't want to be nagged for your inquisitiveness.) Treat me as you would like to be treated.

5. I am a special gift from God. Please treasure me, holding me accountable for my actions, giving me guidelines to live by and disciplining me in a loving manner.

6. I need your encouragement and your praise to grow. Please go easy on the criticism. Remember, you can criticize the things I do without criticizing me.

7. Please give me the freedom to make decisions concerning myself. Permit me to fail so that I can learn from my mistakes. Then someday, I'll be prepared to make the kind of decisions life requires of me.

8. Please don't do things over for me. Somehow that makes me feel that my efforts didn't quite measure up to your expectations. I know it's hard, but please don't try to compare me with my brother or my sister.

9. Please don't be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids need vacations from parents, just as parents need vacations from kids. Besides, it's a great way to show us kids that your marriage is very special.

10. Please take me to worship regularly, setting a good example for me to follow.

UPDATE ON MY GUY!

Yes it was a somber night as the Indians got the tar beat out of them. Score 33 to zippo! Anyways-for those of you who saw my son get laid out, here is his update. He has a stinger.

Definition: A burner, also called a stinger, is a common injury in contact sports, especially football. The exact mechanism of the injury is not well understood, but a burner is thought to be due to either stretch or compression, or a combination of both, of the brachial plexus. The brachial plexus is a network of nerves that has just exited the spinal cord. These nerves travel across the shoulder and into the arm. Symptoms of a burner are sudden pain and tingling extending from the neck and down the arm into the fingers. Most often burners are transient injuries, but they can be serious if they are persistent or recurrent. If a player has recurrent burners, he or she should be removed from competition until evaluated by a physician.

At least the tingling sensation in his arm has finally faded and he now is just very stiff. Him and I admit that the guy laid him out very nicely. It was a nicely executed hit. Nicholas was very mad that he could not play very much since he had another neck injury on Wednesday. Then when he got the injury right before half time he only went back in once more and that was painful for him. Better luck next time, there is a lot of ball left in the season. Thanks for all the inquiries, all that I ask is that everyone prays for no injuries this football season for all the players. I have already had one trip to the ER and I don't want to go again.

Oh and did you guys know that two former UofM football players were at the game last night. They talked to the team a bit before the game. Nicholas worked with one of them and his uncle that works at the University asked him to come for the guys. Pretty cool, huh.
GO BLUE today!!

it's that time of the year!

It is my birthday weekend. That's right you heard me right, I did say weekend and not just day. I guess i should just switch it to birthend. LOL. It is kind of funny since Vincent and I have been together and my Birthday lands on Labor Day weekend, I always tell him that it is my birthday weekend. So starting tomorrow morning I (we) are celebrating. Seriously though, my bday is on the fifth and I will then officially turn 35! The only sad thing about that is then I won't be able to tease my sis any more cause we won't be the same age. ( we are 11 months apart)! Ok well it is after midnight so I am off to start celebrating. :)

right or wrong?

How do we know if we are making the right or wrong choice/decision? Sometimes it is hard for me. Yes there are times when I pray about a decision and then there are times when I have no time I just got to make the decision spur of the moment. This past week there has been a lot of decision making and it is soooo hard. For example, I was informed by my son that he is not a little kid any more and that he is practically an adult and he wanted to do something that so far, the house rules don't allow. Our instant decision was to follow the house rules but after thought and remembering when we were that age we actually sat down and discussed this house rule and changed it for Nicholas. He is going to be sixteen and some rules do need to be adjusted but man it is sure hard. I guess good open lines of communication is the way. We told him that if we say no and he can actually present a reason why it should be changed that we would take into account his reasons. But not any pouting or attitude, especially if the answer is still no. His car will be going on the road starting this weekend so watch out everyone LOL! And for all us parents out there let's stick together and help one another out. If you see my kid doing something he probably should not be doing, tell him and/or inform us. Have a great labor day weekend! I know I will! It is my bday WEEKEND! That's right since my bday is sept 5th, I choose to celebrate all weekend. LOL LOL! Why else do we have it off! Ciao!
