10 steps to teach a child discipline (part 2)

teach and model self control by example

set routines for bedtime, meals, and chores

explain your reasons for rules

let your child help make rules

let your child help decide in the consequences for broken rules

try to understand your child's feelings

if your child breaks a rule, control your anger

if you lash out, apologize (i have done this before)

compliment your child often

tell your child I love you everyday

I think it is so crucial to admit your mistakes...and tell them and show them daily how much you love them. The world can be a very nonforgiving place..and I want my children to know they have a safe place at home.
