to see or not to see

The da vinci code came out last week and i was wondering how many people have either seen it or are planning to see it. I read the book, and i preferred his other one called "Angels & Demons". This one was an interesting story to read too.

Now I did go and see the movie. My mom wanted to see it and I took her cause I personally did not see a problem in viewing the movie. First of all the movie is almost true to the book. There were a few differences but nothing to really matter. This is why I prefer to read the books and many times I do not watch the movies. My exceptions have been the Harry Potter's and the LOTR. Anyways, I found myself a little uncomfortable with the movie. I am still thinking about this and have not really come up with a conclusion. Just wanted to see what others have felt and thought! Have an awesome Memorial Weekend!

Big Mac read the book and said it was a good and interesting read. We plan to see the movie. I have always maintained that one needs to keep the perspective that this is a work of FICTION. And the movie is a work of fiction much like "Jaws" or "ET". Don't give it any more power than that. At least that is my opinion as of now - keeping in mind that I haven't read the book or seen the movie. I may change my mind but I doubt it.

Someone is marketing the heck out of this thing though. That smacks of "tempest in a teapot" to me.

oh guess what i seen at the store. first it was the secrets unlocked of the da vinci code book. then i saw the da vinci code diet. this magazine said it has all the answers to help you lose weight using the da vinci code?!?!?!?!?! ok? nothing like marketing ploy!

I also enjoyed Angels and Demons more than Davinci code. I found it to be an interesting read. I would like to see the movie too.
His other two books are pretty good too. Have a great week!

I've now seen the movie. A pretty good murder mystery. It was pretty peppy in the beginning but slowed to a crawl in the end. I probably could have let myself get a little disturbed but I do keep in mind that it is fiction, just as my original comment. I will read the book now to fill in some of the details that another viewing might provide. And I don't see another viewing in my future. It seems as though Dan Brown perhaps had an axe to grind with the Catholic church. But my opinion and $1.06 will get you a small drink at McDonald's - and that's about what my opinion is worth! Oh yeah, J.J. Abrams (of Alias, Lost and MI 3 fame) could have juiced the movie up quite a bit more - but I still love Opie!

we saw x-men this past weekend and it was good- so much better than da vinci code. (was not happy that there was some words in there that had no need and one "love-lust" scene. i have come to the conclusion that perhaps i was supposed to like the movie (all the hype)but since i did not that is why i was "uncomfortable". and that some people i have talked to kind of are considering that this movie is possibly historical.

I re-read the Divinci Code right before seeing the movie. I thought the book was much better but I also thought the movie did a pretty good job of itself, even though it got bad reviews. There is a really good book I finished about a week ago that is like the flipside of the Divinci Code, talking about how so many of the things in the story could not be true for various reasons. Just an interesting take on the book and someone else's opinion of it.
Michelle--we went to see X-Men3 on Sunday afternoon. Steve loved it of course (he was a huge comic book fan back when he was a kid) and I thought it was ok. I know that didn't get very good reviews too (mainly because they had a different director than the first 2 X-Men movies) but had lots of action and I thought it was worth seeing, especially if you've seen the first 2. Just my 2 cents. Hope you are doing well Michelle!! Steve and I send our love!

did u know the director the did the newest x-men movie is a christian. i think it was interesting and perhaps that is why he showed jean grey the way he did. i do agree that i liked the other directors better. this one did not touch that juggernaut and Xavier are half brothers, and Nicholas was disappointed there was (spoiler warning) Gambit, Nightcrawler, and some others. I heard that you are supposed to wait until after the credits roll to see something additional. I did see the chess thingy with Magneto, but I am not sure if that is what I was supposed to watch or something additional!?!?! Let me know anyone who saw it! Thanks
