more prom information

Here are some more pics of prom. It did not rain and the weather was nice enough. 515 people are expected for prom this year and I thought the decorations were cool. Vincent and I went to help set up earlier this morning. A limo took Nicholas and two other couples and they went out to dinner and then on to prom. Afterwards it will the after prom pajama party until 4 am. They all looked so beautiful and grown up that I almost cried. Below I posted a pic of Nicholas with our neighbor who was also going to prom (quite of few of you know the stunning beauty). The other pics are of Nicholas and his girlfriend.

S.A.D.D.

Tomorrow is prom for Nicholas and many other students at THS. Therefore today at school it was S.A.D.D. day. Don't know what it means? That's ok. S.A.D.D. stands for students against drunk driving. This is how Nicholas looked for part of the day at school, representing S.A.D.D. Pray that all the kids have a safe prom weekend!

Get to the Point!

You know summer time is almost here when Cedar Point is about to open its gates. They do open on May 6th and the good news is that they have lowered ticket prices to $39.95. Jr and Sr tickets are $9.95 and cotton candy on the midway is 25 cents. This year they have added another ride and a new fire light show. We are hoping to plan a Gonzales family "reunion" at CP. How fun will that be? Never been check them out! Something for everyone!

Beauty Secrets

Early tonight at our ladies group we discussed beauty secrets, from a spiritual and physical stand point. There was much discussion on growing old gracefully and many shared what they wished they could change and what the liked about themselves. I also loved the home made salt scrub, I am going to be making some. Thanks to all who shared, it can be very hard to share such personal stuff with others and it was fun. Go figure the one time I forget my camera is the time Kris is doing foot scrubs and then a foot washing for anyone who wants one. Can we do it again next week? Anyways, What it comes down to is Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

I also very much enjoyed the poem about the modern gramma. We discussed how the gramma we all used to know was one of gray and peppered hair, who also had some cushion to her. So that her grandkids could really snuggle up on her (not saying that they cannot otherwise)

The Grandmother's Poem

In the dim and distant past
When life's tempo wasn't fast
Gramma used to rock and knit,
Crochet and tat, and babysit.

Gramma is now at the gym
Excercising to keep slim.
Now she's golfing with the bunch,
Taking clients out to lunch,

Going north to ski and curl,
And all her days are in a whirl.
Nothing seems to stop or block her
Now that Gramma's off her rocker :)

I really want to be a fun and young gramma, but I really think it is all about young at heart. Besides, this is not something I want to be thinking about. Gramma at my age, yeah right! Better not happen!

At first I thought....

Okay one of the questions I thought I would ask God, after I get over my awe (like that could happen), would be, "Why did he make mosquitos?" Now however, I am thinking grubs. Why do we have grubs? I now have a dead yard thanks to grubs. Today I raked up, more like peeled off the top layer, and we will now begin treatment of grubs and reseeding. This will be a second go at it just this year already! I really hate grubs right now!

Floral arrangements and fellowship

This past Monday night the ladies group got together and had a demo of floral arrangements. Then together we had dinner and shared different soups. Yummy! Then we finished it off with our study. It really was a great time and if you missed out I encourage you to come to the next one. Monday nights at 6:30 p.m. at Kris' house. email me and I can give you directions.

UGHHHH!

I hurt my back. It hurts and today I did absolutely nothing cause of the pain. It is on the left side under the shoulder blade and sometimes stretches across my back. Never have I had a problem and it hurts. Thank goodness for my guys cause dishes, dinner, lunch, and laundry would not have been done today without them. I pray that it will be better tomorrow. It just has to be. I have to get groceries and plan for T.S. I have to be better. I can skip my cleaning job on Friday if necessary but Thursday is a must!

gospel according to Judas

okay, there has been some "news" about this discovery. Also, a new book has been written about the gospel of judas that is similar to the da vinci code. I will admit that I have not read anything about it and I have not watched anything except a five minute piece on a news documentary show (that is probably biased). Anyways, I think it could be used to start up great discussions about Jesus. Vincent made a great point when we were discussing the gospel of Judas, the little bit that we did know, he said, "If God wanted it in the bible, then he would have put it in there!" That's it and there is nothing really further to "debate". That really sums it all up I think, cause God is in control.

YEAH!!!

Tonite is boxing and the boys are going to be gone. How nice, it will be quiet and I can do whatever I want. Hhmmmmmm, wonder what I will do? I am off to find out.

I read this somewhere and I thought it was great for a church marquis. It said, "Beat the Easter rush, come to church this Sunday!"

Ok now I am off to finish watching the prime time show on the "Gospel according to Judas"

New culinary skills

Last night at our ladies group we learned some tablescape presentations! Here is a peek at what we did. This is one of the different items we made that we could use in a display. Cool and all the ladies did an awesome job on slicing and dicing. Not one 911 call was made, and I believe no band-aids were needed.

I confess!

Okay, okay! I admit it! I watch infomercials. I don't mean that I just watch 'em for a sec and then flip, I really mean that I watch 'em. Vincent might even come home from work and I will still be up cause I want to finish seeing all the things that the air pressurized cooker-dehydrator-roaster can cook. I think I may be a little mental, when it comes to infomericials. The one good thing is that I don't buy anything. I just love to watch them. Also, is it possible that it could be hereditary? My youngest I have noticed watches them too, however, he takes it a step further and informs me and Vincent what we need to buy to make our lives easier and better. YIKES!

thought for the day

One day a small boy was trying to lift a heavy stone, but he couldn't budge it.
His father, passing by, stopped to watch his efforts. Finally he said to his son: Are you using all your strength?
Yes, I am, the boy cried, exasperated.
No, the father replied calmly, you're not.
You haven't asked me to help you.

Priorities

As moms we definately put ourselves last in the long list of priorities. Why should we though? Then I thought even more about all the things that take precedent over real "priorities". For example, last night my oldest asks me if I am going to the ladies group tonight (last week was the first one and if you want to come email me or call me it was great!). I tell him yes of course and I am going every Monday evening. He kind of groans and says ok. See he has to watch the younger sibling while I am away and he cannot go and do his thing! Why should I feel guilty about taking a little time for me, for fellowship, and God? Well I don't feel guilty, there may have been a time in my life where I would have, but oh no, not today! Here is a story I would like to share with you about priorities.

An expert in time management was speaking to a group of business students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration those students will never forget. As he stood in front of the group of high-powered overachievers he said, "Okay, time for a quiz" and he pulled out a one-gallon, mason jar and set it on the table in front of him. He also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar.
When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?"
Everyone in the class yelled, "Yes."
The time management expert replied, "Really?"
He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. He dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big rocks. He then asked the group once more, "Is the jar full?"
By this time the class was on to him. "Probably not," one of them answered.
"Good!" he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in the jar and it went into all of the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "Is this jar full?"
"No!" the class shouted. Once again he said, "Good." Then he grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked at the class and asked, "What is the point of this illustration?"
One eager beaver raised his hand and said, "The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard you can always fit some more things in it!"
"No," the speaker replied, that's not the point. The truth this illustration teaches us is: If you don't put the big rocks in first, you'll never get them in at all.
What are the 'big rocks' in your life -- time with your loved ones, your faith, your education, your dreams, a worthy cause, teaching or mentoring others? Remember to put these BIG ROCKS in first or you'll never get them in at all." So, tonight, or in the morning, when you are reflecting on this short story, ask yourself this question: What are the 'big rocks' in my life? Then, put those in your jar first.
*Stephen Covey

For me, this women's group is going to be one of my big rocks in my one gallon jar called life. Have a good one!

How Great is our God!

I am tired, but a good tired, and not as tired as I was from Winterfest. We just got in a little while ago from a youth rally. I love going to them for me just as much as Vince and I enjoy taking the teens. We really got a lot out of the "break outs" and met some great people. The theme was "reaching Him" and the one thing that really stood out was when the guest speaker was talking about how people in the world act like there is no God. That we are here because of a "big bang" theory. He used the visual of a fish bowl. This fish bowl was nothing and then the fish owner (God) made land and water. Oh and there was light (every aquarium has a light) The guy put in water and rocks. Then he talked about decorated landscape so he added colored rocks, seaweed, etc. Then he put in two fish. Going a long with the Genesis story theme. Every time he would take his hand out of the bowl he would say something like, "well just because they don't feel me or see me anymore does that mean I am not here to the fish." It really made me look at the universe on different planes. Yes, i have thought of it before but today it was like yeah. God is in this huge existence and I am here in the fish bowl that he has created for me. I loved this one part he said about the Creator and the fish bowl. He said what do many if not all people do when they have an aquarium, they sit back and enjoy that which they love and care for. Just like God, I can imagine Him sitting back looking down at the world and enjoying that which he created for us, because he loves us. (yes I know that there is yuck in the world but I just want to focus on the good for now) Anyways, it was a really good day and I encourage you to ask one of the teens about it and see what they have to say. The singing was awesome too by the way. Some real soulful singing is the only way to describe it :)
